Mr. Santisuk Klongchaiya, Chief Executive Officer of AirAsia Thailand, said: “AirAsia plans to continue its expansion in India to tap on the market’s high tourism potential. We see that Thai tourism can fit into every group of travelers with a range of attractions and activities, from shopping, leisure and natural sights, to cultural attractions, hospitality and wellness services. We believe that this new route will create an important opportunity for stimulating tourism and economic growth between both nations.”
Thai travelers will be able to experience a new side of India as Visakhapatnam is a major port city and hub of commerce. Travelers looking for new and unique places to visit are recommended to explore the latest India destination served by AirAsia.

Questions around this news
What is the new Bangkok–Visakhapatnam route and when does it begin?
The announced service connects Bangkok-Don Mueang with Visakhapatnam, a city on India’s eastern coast. The release says flights are scheduled to operate three times a week, starting April 9, 2024. It describes Visakhapatnam as a major port city and commercial hub.
Which other Indian cities does AirAsia Thailand serve from Bangkok?
The release lists Kolkata, Chennai, Jaipur, Kochi, Bangalore, Gaya, Lucknow, Ahmedabad and Guwahati, in addition to the newly announced Visakhapatnam route. It says the airline operates these connections between Bangkok and India. The information reflects the network described in the release, published in January 2024.
What does an airline load factor mean?
Load factor is a measure of how much of an airline’s available passenger seating is occupied on its flights. Airlines commonly use it to assess capacity use across a route or network. It can vary by flight, season and direction, so a network-wide figure does not necessarily describe every individual service.
