-- Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong has announced the opening of Terrace Boulud by Mandarin Oriental, marking Hong Kong's debut of internationally acclaimed chef Daniel Boulud and the first chapter in the hotel's transformative renovation journey. Located at Landmark Prince's, the rooftop French brasserie introduces an elevated expression of French art de vivre, infused with the vibrancy and contemporary spirit of Hong Kong's ever-evolving dining landscape.

Perched on the 25th floor of Landmark Prince's and linked directly to Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong, Terrace Boulud by Mandarin Oriental is the hotel's first restaurant concept beyond the walls of its iconic flagship, extending the hotel's celebrated dining legacy into a dramatic rooftop setting that overlooks Victoria Harbour and Central's iconic skyline.
At the grand opening on 12 March, a ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the official arrival of Terrace Boulud, as invited guests, media and loyal patrons gathered to discover an urban oasis blending Parisian elegance with Hong Kong's dynamic spirit, accompanied by the warm, legendary service for which Mandarin Oriental is known. The evening also offered a glimpse into the next era of experiences to come as the hotel's transformative renovation journey unfolds.
Chef Daniel Boulud said, “Opening Terrace Boulud in Hong Kong is a meaningful milestone. For many years in New York, I have welcomed guests from Hong Kong who dine with us regularly, so to now cook in their city feels very special.” He continues “I first experienced Hong Kong in mid 80's and was captivated by its vibrant food culture. It has long been a wish to open a restaurant here. I'm grateful to work alongside our CEO, Sébastien Silvestri, whose leadership helped bring this vision to life. Together with Mandarin Oriental and our design partners at Malherbe Paris, we've created a restaurant that reflects the elegance of the Boulud tradition while embracing the dynamic spirit of Hong Kong.”
Terrace Boulud by Mandarin Oriental invites guests on a seasonal journey through Chef Daniel Boulud's four culinary muses: La Tradition (French classics), La Saison (market specialities), Le Potager (the vegetable garden) and Le Voyage (exotic flavours from the world's great cuisine). The menu celebrates the timeless tradition of the French brasserie for which Chef Boulud is renowned, reinterpreted with a contemporary flair and enriched by the exquisite produce and culinary diversity of the region.
During the soft-opening period, guests will be able to enjoy dinner service as well as bar snacks and drinks on the terrace, with full lunch and dinner service commencing from mid-April. An afternoon tea service will be introduced at a later stage. Throughout the day, the restaurant will present a refined à la carte menu complemented by an extensive wine selection, inventive cocktails and curated brews, each selected to pair harmoniously with the cuisine. On the terrace, guests can enjoy relaxed alfresco dining that transitions seamlessly from golden-hour aperitifs to late-evening gatherings beneath the city's skyline.
Designed by Malherbe Paris, Terrace Boulud's interiors draw inspiration from the golden age of French brasseries and the allure of luxury train travel, evoking a timeless journey that mirrors Chef Daniel Boulud's global culinary explorations around the world.
Within the dining room, curved woodwork, hand-crafted detailing and layered lighting create a warm and immersive atmosphere, while subtle nods to local craftsmanship and the city's harbourfront setting anchor the experience firmly in Hong Kong. Floor-to-ceiling windows and the sweeping rooftop terrace frame cinematic views of Victoria Harbour and the city's iconic skyline, creating a dramatic backdrop from day to night.
"With Terrace Boulud, we envisioned a joyful rooftop, a place where the spirit of a Parisian brasserie meets the vibrant, tropical energy of Hong Kong," said Hubert de Malherbe, Founder and Creative Director of Malherbe Paris. "The restaurant is designed as a lively and convivial destination, a place of collective joy and pleasure where guests gather to share a drink, celebrate the moment, and simply enjoy the view. On one side, the breathtaking Hong Kong Harbour; on the other, the green mountains, a panorama that makes this terrace truly unique.
The design embraces the idea of a 'tropical brasserie': joyful, colourful and full of life, where French elegance blends with the warmth and vitality of the region. The design celebrates Mandarin Oriental's remarkable heritage while opening a refined new chapter for this iconic address."
First Chapter of A Transformative Renovation Journey
Terrace Boulud's debut signals the unveiling of the first chapter in Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong's comprehensive renovation programme, an over USD100M transformation that will reimagine guestrooms, suites, public areas, wellness facilities and dining experiences, while preserving the hotel's distinctive heritage and timeless elegance. The full renovation is expected to complete in the fourth quarter of this year, ensuring the flagship Mandarin Oriental continues to set the benchmark for timeless luxury in the heart of Central for generations to come.
