November 8, 2024 -- The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited (Towngas) has been presented with the “55 Years in Hang Seng Index Award” by Hang Seng Indexes Company Limited (HSIL), commemorating over half a century of continuous inclusion as a constituent since the Hang Seng Index’s (HSI) launch.
As Hong Kong’s oldest public utility company with more than 160 years of history, Towngas has been rooted in Hong Kong, witnessing the city’s development. Towngas became an HSI constituent on 24 November 1969 with stock code 0003. Thanks to the support of Hong Kong people and investors over the past 55 years, the Company has maintained its position as a constituent, growing together with Hong Kong – an achievement of which it is deeply proud.
Mr Peter Wong Wai-yee, Managing Director of Towngas, expressed gratitude for the public’s support and HSIL’s recognition. Mr Wong said, “Over more than a century, Towngas has achieved world-class standards in corporate management and operations, maintaining robust business growth. As times change, we continue to evolve. Innovation and continuous reformation are Towngas’s long-term core values.
