Inaugurated in 2021, the Haute Couture Suite by Isabelle Huppert is enriched with new personal selections. An embodiment of the contemporary Left Bank woman, the actress has chosen iconic books and entrusted her Balenciaga dress designed by Demna, worn at the Cannes Film Festival.
-- Located on the sixth floor of Mandarin Oriental Lutetia, Paris and designed by architect and designer Jean-Michel Wilmotte, the Haute Couture Suite by Isabelle Huppert reveals new artistic pieces inspired by the actress's refined couture spirit and her love of literature. Like a Parisian apartment, with breathtaking views over the capital, the suite reflects the Huppert style, blending the rigor of a masculine wardrobe with French glamour.
A haute couture creation, the Balenciaga dress designed by Demna for Isabelle Huppert and worn at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival is displayed in the living room, alongside furnishings by Walter Knoll. Crafted from upcycled denim, the bespoke ensemble — a long skirt paired with a structured jacket — reflects a striking balance of boldness and elegance.
Among the literary works selected by Isabelle Huppert and placed throughout the suite are modernist and contemporary texts that explore introspection and society, alongside an emblematic French comedy: The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath; The Professor of Desire by Philip Roth; Memoirs of a Dutiful Daughter by Simone de Beauvoir; The Magic Mountain by Thomas Mann; and The Barber of Seville by Beaumarchais. Powerful, lucid voices — often in search of freedom — echoing the spirit of the actress herself.
The suite also features new photographs by Eric Guillemain, taken at Lutetia. In the bedroom, these images reveal an intimate and luminous Isabelle Huppert, captured in the hushed atmosphere of this mythical Left Bank landmark.
An eclectic playlist, curated by the actress, further enhances the experience. The songs tell stories of torn love (Ne Me Quitte Pas by Jacques Brel, Wild Horses by The Rolling Stones), inhabited solitude (L'Aigle Noir by Barbara and The Sound of Silence by Simon & Garfunkel), sensuality (La Vie en Rose by Louis Armstrong and Misty by Ella Fitzgerald), and strength (Somebody to Love by Queen and Feeling Good by Nina Simone).
