Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau outlines a strategy to move beyond traditional trade fairs, positioning Thailand as a global platform for experiential business events — anchored by a major new Bangkok exhibition scheduled for November 2026.
-- The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) has announced a strategic direction centred on what it calls "Return on Experience," marking a deliberate move away from measuring exhibition success purely by transactions and floor space. The announcement was made at a London briefing held to introduce Thailand's exhibition strategy to international markets.

TCEB President Dr. Supawan Teerarat articulated the rationale behind the new direction, drawing a distinction between traditional commercial metrics and the longer-term value generated through human connection and intellectual exchange. "They're not only looking for return on investment… they're looking for return on experiences," she said.
Data presented at the London briefing indicated that business visitors to Thailand already spend several times more than leisure tourists. TCEB officials argued that the true economic multiplier runs through the relationships and knowledge networks formed at business events, rather than through immediate on-site transactions alone.
At the centre of the strategy is THE WORLD ENDS, a design-led exhibition scheduled for November 2026 in Bangkok. Conceived as a transdisciplinary platform, the event will bring together designers, technologists, and brand representatives each year to examine and define emerging global trends.
Thailand's creative economy, valued at $44.5 billion and representing more than 8% of the country's GDP, provides the economic foundation for this repositioning. Officials stated that embedding creativity into manufacturing and services is intended to raise the value of Thai exports and strengthen the country's competitive standing in international markets.
Thailand currently holds the largest exhibition capacity in Southeast Asia and offers visa-free access to nationals from more than 90 countries. TCEB is presenting these attributes as structural advantages for organisations seeking a base for regional and global collaboration.
The bureau faces intensifying competition from neighbouring markets, with Singapore and China ranking among the primary rivals for international exhibition business in the Asia-Pacific region, according to TCEB's own competitive assessment.
When professionals choose to travel for business, TCEB's position is that the quality of the experience must justify the undertaking. The bureau's strategy ties government and ministerial support to this objective, offering international exhibitors access to facilitation mechanisms that address practical barriers — including regulatory and logistical challenges specific to operating in Thailand.
