In 2022 Chadstone announced the commencement of development works which included delivery of a revitalised fresh food and dining precinct, The Market Pavilion. On Thursday 27 March, The Market Pavilion will welcome its first visitors and present more than 50 market-leading retailers servicing every need from the everyday to gourmet.

Encompassing Melbourne’s epicurean spirit, The Market Pavilion captures the diversity of Australia’s food capital. From essentials to artisan produce and specialised buys, Chadstone’s new fresh food precinct will house everything under one roof, affording visitors the luxury of time and convenience.

The curated selection of fresh food and dining vendors set to call The Market Pavilion home from late March include:

Blakeaway, Brunetti Oro, Cannoleria, The Fishmonger, Flowers Vasette, Gewurzhaus, Green Cup Canteen, Hank’s Bagelry, Hey Tea, Koko Black, Little Sister Bakery, Champagne & Oyster Bar, Kaiten Sushi Train, That’s Amore Cheesery, Vic’s Meats, and Vintage Cellars among others.

Spanning 26,500 square metres, the vibrant and comprehensive fresh food precinct marks a new chapter for the Southern Hemisphere’s largest integrated retail and lifestyle destination.

The project furthers Chadstone’s evolution from a shopping centre to the heart of an emerging city and is expected to attract 10m annual visits.

“The design and retail offer in The Market Pavilion combines the best of the modern fresh food marketplaces one visits whilst in Europe with the ambience and much-loved brands that are enthusiastically embraced by Melburnians locally – reflecting the quality, variety and elevated consumer experience which Chadstone is known for,” said Chadstone Centre Manager, Daniel Boyle.

Premium guest services offered by The Market Pavilion’s Food Concierge will include personalised shopping experiences, grocery refrigeration storage, and menu planning featuring AI-generated recipe inspiration. At the market's heart, The Kitchen will offer interactive and engaging experiences hosted by The Market Pavilion’s curated collection of premium providors.

Dedicated premium parking spots will ensure easy access to The Market Pavilion. A 2-hour express ‘Fresh Food Parking’ option adjacent to the precinct will commence in line with the opening to enable more convenient car spaces for those visitors to The Market Pavilion wanting to do a quick shop or access essential services.

Adjoining The Market Pavilion, Chadstone will also unveil a re-energised Dining Laneway offering casual all-day dining and a broad range of cuisines. Dine-in and takeaway will be available from 11 outlets including:

Master Lanzhou Noodle Bar, Papa Rich, Panda Yum Cha, Seoul Garden, Shanghai Red, Sushi Sushi, Yo Chi, and YX Mini Hotpot.

Sitting atop The Market Pavilion, the new nine-story One Middle Road office tower will add a further 20,000 square meters of high-quality office space together with a new level of covered parking atop Car Park C (adjacent to the Coles entry). This additional parking level will be provided for office and retail workers during the week and will be open to Chadstone’s visitors on the weekend.

Chadstone currently services approximately 3,900 office workers and once completed, One Middle Road will welcome over 2,000 more. With the office tower more than 95% leased, the workers that will soon call it home will enjoy exclusive amenities including an outdoor Sky Garden, business lounge and first-class end-of-trip facilities.

“We know there is significant appetite for workplace solutions outside of the traditional CBD, and this significant investment in the centre’s development recognises the important role Chadstone plays at the heart of an emerging 20-minute city in Melbourne’s Southeast. We look forward to welcoming the Adairs and Kmart support office teams as new tenants to One Middle Road from mid-2025,” concluded Mr. Boyle.

Completion of the combined projects coincides with a master rebrand for Chadstone, marking the beginning of a new era. At the heart of an emerging city, what opened as a suburban shopping centre 65 years ago has grown to encompass a cultural epicentre offering the full spectrum of retail, dining, entertainment, modern workplaces, and accommodation.

Chadstone’s joint owners, Gandel Group and Vicinity Centres, acknowledge the iconic destination has reached a pivotal moment in its history where its brand and value, can be encapsulated in one word: Chadstone. Already synonymous with world-class experiences and a first-to-market promise, the rebrand marks the precinct’s evolution as it retires ‘The Fashion Capital’’ tagline that defined it for a generation.

The Market Pavilion will welcome visitors from 8:30am on Thursday, 27 March.
