October 27, 2023 -- Expanding Renewable Energy Portfolio

B.Grimm Power Public Company Limited (BGRIM) has disclosed that its subsidiary, AMATA B. Grimm Power Company Limited has signed an agreement with Amata Water Company Limited (Amata Water) to co-develop a large-scale Floating Solar Farm for electricity generation using solar energy installed on floating platforms within the Amata City Industrial Estate, Chonburi, Thailand. The first phase of the project will have a capacity of 19.5 megawatts.
Dr. Harald Link, President of B.Grimm and Chief Executive Officer of B.Grimm Power Public Company Limited, revealed that this project will be able to meet the increasing demand for solar energy from customers within the Amata City Chonburi industrial estate, utilizing efficient and cutting-edge solar energy technology. This initiative aims to strengthen competitiveness and capabilities for the customers within the industrial estate while also caring for the environment. Additionally, it seeks to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the long term and create a sustainable business model in terms of economy, society, and environment. The first phase of the project is expected to achieve commercial operation status in the third quarter of 2024.
“The signing of this agreement with Amata Water Limited Company (Amata Water) is another important step in B.Grimm Power’s renewable energy portfolio expansion strategy, reaching a wider customer base and working with partners to collectively achieve New Zone” Dr. Link said.
Currently, B.Grimm Power has 58 projects in its power production portfolio including new projects and acquisitions in various countries, which will have a combined capacity of 1 gigawatt of power by the year 2030, positioning itself as a global leader in energy production. The long-term goal is to achieve Net-Zero Carbon Emissions by 2050.
Mr. Wittawat Svasti-Xuto, Chief Executive Officer of AMATA Water Company Limited said that the partnership with B.Grimm Power to jointly develop clean energy within AMATA City Chonburi industrial estate is in line with the company’s goal to transform the industrial city into a Smart City in the long run, where utility from environmental-friendly energy sources and the smart utility management play a critical role. As part of this effort, a Floating Solar Farm project will be implemented on a section of the Amata City Chonburi reservoir, with an initial capacity of approximately 19.5 megawatts. This project is expected to have positive impacts on energy management, as well as reduce water loss from evaporation in the reservoir. These measures align with the long-term vision to maximize resource utilization and benefits within the Amata City Chonburi industrial estate.
This joint development serves as a case study to explore the potential of expanding similar projects within the Amata City Industrial Estate, Chonburi. It will pave the way for the adoption of Smart Energy solutions, aligning with the future energy direction focused on reducing carbon emissions and achieving Carbon Neutral status by 2040.
