Questions around this news

  1. Why did Delta Plant 6 receive a Thailand Energy Award?

The release says the award recognized the energy management work of Delta’s Wellgrow team during 2021–2022, including efforts to reduce energy intensity and improve operational efficiency. It identifies the honor as the Energy Management Team at Designated Factory category for Delta Plant 6.

  2. What energy projects were described at Delta Plant 6?

The release describes rooftop solar installations and servo motors used in injection molding machine systems. It says the solar project generates electricity and avoids carbon emissions, while the motors reduce energy use during injection processes. The release also identifies Plant 6 as one of the sites included in the company’s broader rooftop solar capacity in Thailand.

  3. What is an energy management team award?

An energy management team award generally recognizes a group’s organized efforts to monitor and improve how a facility uses energy. Such work can involve setting goals, reviewing energy performance, identifying operational changes, and putting efficiency measures into practice. Award criteria vary, so the exact requirements depend on the program presenting the honor.

  4. How can servo motors reduce energy use in manufacturing?

A servo motor uses feedback and control electronics to adjust motion to a machine’s needs. In applications such as injection molding, this can help the motor provide power when required rather than running continuously at a fixed output. The potential savings depend on the equipment, operating conditions, and how the system is configured.

October 24, 2023 -- The 2022 Thailand Energy Awards, Energy Management Team at Designated Factory category recognizes Delta management’s broad vision and strategy for energy intensity reduction in operations and the efficient work of the Delta Wellgrow Energy Management Team in year 2021-2022 to achieve the following:

Delta Electronics (Thailand) PCL. received the 2022 Thailand Energy Award (TEA) from the Ministry of Energy in the Energy Management Team at Designated Factory (Delta Plant 6) award category. H.E. Mr. Pirapan Salirathavibhaga, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, presented the award to Mr. Saroj Ruangsakulraj, Delta Energy Management System Senior Manager, at an awards ceremony held by the Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency (DEDE), Ministry of Energy at Rama Garden Hotel Bangkok.

Speaking at the ceremony press conference, Mr. Saroj Ruangsakulraj, Delta Energy Management System Senior Manager, said, “From 2012 to 2023, Delta received 14 Thailand Energy Awards and 2 ASEAN Energy Awards. Today our solar rooftop systems at four Thailand factories have 7.1 MWp capacity which includes 2.2 MWp for Delta Plant 6 at Wellgrow Industrial Estate, Chachoengsao. This designated factory is the winner at this year’s Thailand Energy Awards ceremony. We are continuing to expand our solar rooftop generation for internal use and our energy efficiency projects at our green factories in Thailand remain a key driver of our RE100 strategy to have 100% renewable electricity throughout our entire global operations by 2030.”

• Solar rooftop implementation of 2,077 kWp capacity which generates 4,174,000 kWh per year and avoids 1,678 Ton of CO2 emissions per year.

• Servo motor implementation for injection molding machine systems that can save up to 1,000,000 kWh per year in energy consumption during injection processes equal to approximately four million baht per year.

This is the seventh year for Delta to win the prestigious sustainability award from the Ministry of Energy in recognition of factories, buildings and individuals that demonstrate responsible use of energy resources for sustainable development. Previously, Delta has received Thailand Energy Awards in 2013, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021.

As a sustainability-focused and global corporate citizen, Delta leverages its core competencies in power management to develop and promote energy-efficient and sustainable operations. From 2006 to 2022, Delta established 32 green buildings and 2 certified green data centers around the world, including two green factories in Thailand with LEED Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
