Questions around this news

  1. How often does the Thiruvananthapuram–Kuala Lumpur route operate?

The release says the new route operates four times weekly. It describes the service as AirAsia’s second direct route to Kerala, following its Kochi route. The inaugural flight was welcomed in Kuala Lumpur on February 22, 2024.

  2. Which Indian cities have direct flights to Kuala Lumpur mentioned in the release?

The release lists Thiruvananthapuram, Chennai, Tiruchirappalli, Kochi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Visakhapatnam as cities served by AirAsia Malaysia. It also names New Delhi and Amritsar as cities served by AirAsia X Malaysia. The release describes the two services as operating 56 and 8 flights weekly, respectively.

  3. What does visa-free entry mean for travellers?

Visa-free entry means a traveller can visit a destination without obtaining a visa in advance for an eligible purpose and period of stay. It does not necessarily remove other entry requirements: travellers may still need to meet conditions such as holding a valid passport or providing travel details. Rules depend on the destination and traveller’s circumstances.

  4. What is the difference between a short-haul and a medium-haul airline service?

These labels describe the approximate length of flights an airline service is designed to operate. Short-haul services generally cover shorter journeys, while medium-haul services cover longer ones. The categories do not have one universal distance threshold, and airlines may use them differently when describing their operations or aircraft.

SEPANG, February 22, 2024 -- Continuing the expansion of its India-Malaysia air connectivity, AirAsia today welcomed the first flight from the southern city of Thiruvananthapuram - making this the airline’s second direct route to the state of Kerala after Kochi.
