Mr. Santisuk Klongchaiya, CEO of Thai AirAsia, stated that the response to the Taiwan stopover route has been very positive. This opens up new opportunities for the airline to expand its market to Taiwanese travelers who enjoy visiting Japan throughout the year. This new route to Sapporo also provides a more convenient travel option for people in Chiang Mai who wish to visit Sapporo. They can fly from Chiang Mai to Sapporo with a short stopover in Taipei.
"Sapporo is one of the most popular destinations for both Thai and Taiwanese travelers. AirAsia is expanding its third route from Taiwan to Japan, particularly during the summer season, when Sapporo is just as beautiful as in winter, full of flowers and delicious food. We are ready to welcome Taiwanese travelers and provide direct flights from Taipei to Sapporo with punctuality and international standards," said Mr. Santisuk.
Currently, Thai AirAsia operates three routes with Fifth Freedom rights via Taiwan, including:
- Bangkok - Taipei - Okinawa (7 flights per week)
- Bangkok - Kaohsiung - Tokyo (Narita) (7 flights per week)
- The latest route, Chiang Mai - Taipei - Sapporo (7 flights per week)
