Collaboration to leverage Lunit SCOPE IO ® and SCOPE universal IHC® (uIHC) digital pathology products in two Daiichi Sankyo oncology research and development programs

Seoul, South Korea, December 16, 2025 -- Lunit (KRX:328130), a leading provider of AI for cancer diagnostics and precision oncology, today announced a collaboration with Daiichi Sankyo (TSE: 4568) that aims to accelerate biomarker discovery and optimize translational research by integrating multiple AI-powered Lunit SCOPE digital pathology products across two oncology pipeline programs.

Daiichi Sankyo will apply various Lunit SCOPE solutions, including SCOPE uIHC for quantitative IHC analysis and SCOPE IO for immune phenotyping and spatial analysis, to explore novel biomarkers and to potentially enrich clinical trials or to potentially support precision patient stratification for select oncology pipeline programs.

“Lunit SCOPE was built to unlock hidden insights from pathology slides - quantifying the tumor microenvironment, predicting molecular profiles and generating data-rich features to inform trial design,” said Brandon Suh, CEO of Lunit. “SCOPE uIHC is now enabling the next generation of IHC-based biomarkers. By working with Daiichi Sankyo, we are embedding these capabilities into translational and clinical research, enabling faster biomarker discovery and more precise patient stratification. Ultimately, this means more efficient trials and better outcomes, where each patient has a greater chance of receiving the therapy that works best for them.”

Questions around this news

  1. What does the collaboration between Lunit and Daiichi Sankyo involve?

The companies plan to use Lunit SCOPE digital pathology tools in two Daiichi Sankyo oncology research and development programs. The work includes exploratory projects and analyses across two oncology assets and multiple cancer types. Findings could inform future trial designs, biomarker strategies, and clinical development plans, but the release describes these as potential outcomes rather than confirmed changes.

  2. How will SCOPE uIHC and SCOPE IO be used in the research?

The release describes SCOPE uIHC as a tool for quantitative immunohistochemistry analysis and SCOPE IO as a tool for immune phenotyping and spatial analysis. Daiichi Sankyo will apply these and other Lunit SCOPE solutions to explore biomarkers. The research could also help identify patients for clinical trials or support precision patient stratification in selected pipeline programs.

  3. What is translational oncology research?

Translational oncology research connects laboratory discoveries with the development and testing of cancer treatments in people. Researchers may study tumor samples, biological mechanisms, or candidate biomarkers to understand how a disease behaves and how a treatment might work. The findings can help shape clinical research, though they do not by themselves establish that a treatment is effective.

  4. How can biomarkers help with clinical trial design?

A biomarker is a measurable biological feature that can provide information about a disease or a person’s response to treatment. In research, investigators may use biomarkers to explore which patients could be more suitable for a study or to group participants for analysis. A biomarker’s usefulness depends on evidence supporting its measurement and interpretation.
