Questions around this news
What applications did Fiberroad plan to highlight at the expo?
The company said it would present connectivity solutions for smart city and industrial automation applications, including intelligent transportation, smart grids, oil and gas, and factory automation. It also planned to showcase solutions for smart mining, which the release described as modernizing to improve safety, productivity, and sustainability.
What does an industrial Ethernet switch do?
An industrial Ethernet switch connects devices on an Ethernet network and directs data between them. Unlike equipment designed only for typical office settings, industrial models are generally built to keep working in demanding environments such as factories, transport systems, or outdoor installations. Their specific features vary by model and intended use.
What is a media converter in a network?
A media converter links network connections that use different transmission media, commonly converting between copper Ethernet cabling and fiber-optic cabling. This can help extend a network over longer distances or connect equipment that uses different physical interfaces. A converter changes the signal’s medium; it does not, by itself, determine how the network is managed.
