“Now we are well and truly back and stronger than ever, returning to our most popular destinations first. Australia and New Zealand are core destinations in our network, which combined with the AirAsia Group now exceeds over 130 destinations across Asia and Asia Pacific.

Questions around this news

  1. Which Australia and New Zealand routes to Kuala Lumpur are included in the sale?

The release lists flights from Melbourne, Perth, Gold Coast and Sydney to Kuala Lumpur, as well as Auckland to Kuala Lumpur. It gives economy fares from AUD 176 from Perth and from NZD 426 from Auckland, with separate listed fares for the other routes. The release says fares include applicable taxes and charges, and that other terms and conditions apply.

  2. What onward connections are available from Kuala Lumpur?

The release says travelers arriving from Australia and New Zealand can connect from Kuala Lumpur to destinations across the airline group’s network. Examples named include India, Thailand, Vietnam, Korea, Japan, the Philippines and China. The release describes the wider network as covering more than 130 destinations across Asia and the Asia Pacific.

  3. What is a premium flatbed seat?

A premium flatbed is an airline seat that reclines into a mostly flat sleeping surface, offering more room to rest than a standard upright seat. Airlines may bundle extra amenities or services with the seat, but what is included varies by carrier, route and fare. A flatbed may not be identical to a fully level bed.

  4. What does it mean for an airline to operate a widebody aircraft?

A widebody aircraft has a broad fuselage that typically accommodates two passenger aisles. Compared with a narrowbody aircraft, it can provide a wider cabin and more seating capacity, and is commonly used for longer routes. Aircraft size and cabin arrangements vary, so the term alone does not specify passenger capacity or onboard amenities.
